WALKERTON – Margaret L. Boits, 96, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 2:55 PM Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, Indiana.

Margaret was born on March 5, 1917 in Chicago, IL to the late Robert and Ruth (Dahms) Flack and has lived in the South Bend area most of her life.

On June 7, 1940 in South Bend she was united in marriage to Richard William Boits, who preceded her in death on January 28, 1958. Margaret worked for many years as a secretary for Freeman and Spicer and later became the owner of "Boits Bargain Barn" on Western Ave. Upon her retirement, she moved to Green Valley, AZ where she was a caregiver for many home bound people. She returned to the South Bend area in 2001. Margaret was an avid league bowler and a "lover of cats," taking care of many of her feline friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Flack; husband, Richard Boits; sons, Robert Boits and Michael Boits; and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Rudy) Cernick.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Larry) Calloway of Black Mountain, NC; daughter-in-law, Mary Boits of Lakeville; daughter-in-law, Nita Boits of South Bend; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
