Emrich A. Wensits, 89, of South Bend, formerly of Taylor Street, passed away at 5:30 a.m.Friday, June 23, 2006, in Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center. Emery was born on June 4, 1917, in South Bend to John and Katherine (Reiner) Wensits. He retired in 1981 from Bendix, where he was employed for 25 years. Mr. Wensits was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, D.F.V. German Club, the South Bend Maennerchor Club, and the former German St.Stephens Society, of which he was past president and treasurer.

On June 14, 1941, in South Bend, he married the former Esther Wroblewski. She died on September 5, 2005. Also preceding in death are a brother, John Wensits and two sisters, Elizabeth Kaman and Helen Eby.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet M.(Jack) Kary of South Bend; a son, Robert E. (Peggy) Wensits of Cassopolis, MI; six grandchildren, Connie Everts, Kim Stevenson, Jack Kary, Robert J.Wensits, James M.Wensits, and Jodie Temple; 11 great- grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Jordan of South Bend; and 16 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the D.F.V.German Club.
