John E. Marker Sr.
John Edward Marker Sr., 62, of 210 Village Way, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He was born on Nov. 15, 1918, in South Bend, and lived here all his life.
On Jan. 8, 1944, in South Bend, he married Dorothy V. Standfield, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Lies of South Bend; a son, John E. Jr. of South Bend; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Galanis of Tucson, Ariz.; stepsister, Mrs. Ruth Hahaj of South Bend; and his mother, Mrs. Martha M. Iseman of Tucson.
Services will be at noon Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Daniel Durkin, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
He was veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Schuyler Colfax Post 3194, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and IATSA, Theater 187
