Charles A. Nietch, 62, of 2901 Bonds, died Monday in the Carlyle Nursing home after a three-month illness. He was retired this year from the Bendix Corp. where he had worked as an inspector for 43 years.

Born on Aug. 18, 1918, in Logansport, he had lived in South Bend most of his life. On June 7, 1941, in South Bend, he married Lois Morse, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Hauteman of South Bend, a son, John of South Bend: six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Nanos of Elkhart, two brothers. Harold of Crescent City, Fla., and Howard of Niles; and his mother, Mrs. George Nietch of Niles.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph A. Jacobs, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today in the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

He was a World War Il army veteran, a member of VFW Post 1047, and a member of Bendix Local
