“Little Bro” Robert James Fultz, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away in his home on Thursday July 11, 2024. Born on October 17, 1956, in South Bend, Robert's life was marked by his unwavering spirit, infectious humor, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
Robert was a proud graduate of Riley High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and pride. Following his military service, Robert returned to his hometown, where he worked diligently on a trash truck for the city, serving the community he loved.
Family was the cornerstone of Robert's life. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Archie Fultz Sr. and Janie (Alexander) Godard, his wife, Diane (West) Fultz, his daughter, Latosha Fultz, and his sisters, Michelle, Yvonne, and Pamela Fultz. Robert's legacy lives on through his son, Jayawana Fultz; his step-daughter, Tracina Fikes; his grandchildren, Mychell Easton, Shawn Spriggs, Michael Carlisle, Anthony Carver, and Samuel Carlisle; his sisters, Vanessa Fultz and Angela (Carl) Gadson; his brothers, Walter Alexander and Archie Fultz, Jr.; and the many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and humor.
Robert was a man of many interests, but above all, he loved to fish, cook and then eat! His BBQ gatherings were legendary, filled with laughter and the mouthwatering aromas of his famous dishes. He was always the jokester, ready with a funny story or a playful nickname for everyone he met. His sense of humor was a gift that he generously shared, bringing joy and lightness to even the most ordinary moments.
Those who knew Robert will remember him as a man who was funny, kind-hearted, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a knack for making people feel at ease and was often the life of the party, ensuring everyone around him was having a good time. Special Thank You to his friends of 25 years, Heather Seibert and her husband, Melvin Richardson and nephews, Cameron (Melissa) Seibert and Scott Seibert and niece, Sierra Seibert and her daughter, Nova for their wonderful love and care for Robert.
Funeral Services for Robert will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, located at 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Robert beginning at 10 am. A private family burial will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
As we say goodbye to Robert, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and cherished memories. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his stories will be told for generations to come. Robert James Fultz, “Little Bro” will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
