Ronald D. Whitmer, Sr.

February 28, 1957 ~ March 27, 2025

Ronald D. Whitmer Sr, 68, of South Bend passed away on Thursday March 27, 2025, at his home.

Ronald was born in South Bend on February 28, 1957, the late David and Estella (Tingle) Whitmer.

Ronald was a proud hardworking diesel mechanic.

On December 31, 1977, he married Cheryl Perkins, sharing 47 years of marriage.

Ronald was a loving Grandpa. He loved spending time with his grandkids and watching them grow. He loved anything to do with tools. His favorite place to eat was Bob Evan’s. He was a collector of many things. He loved watching movies and doing yard work. Fixing cars was his favorite hobby.  In his younger years he liked to race cars and participate in demolition derby’s. 

Ronald is survived by his wife, Chery Whitmer, his daughter; Ashley Whitmer, and his grandchildren; Bruce Wayne Whitmer and Madelyne Craw. Also surviving are his siblings; Dennis Whitmer and Craig Whitmer.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Ronald D. Whitmer Jr.

In keeping with his wishes, no services are planned at this time.
