Phillip M Butcher

Phillip Butcher, 88, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at home. He was born on February 2, 1936, in South Bend, the son of Harry Butcher and Edith (Sosbe) Butcher.
He attended Riley High School. He joined the Army Indiana National Guard for six years.
On February 15, 1959, he was united in marriage to LaDonna Faye Overman, in Lakeville, IN. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, LaDonna he is survived by two daughters, Robin (Richard) Caldanaro of Otterbein, IN and Christine Enyeart of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Neil Luczkowski, Amanda (Clint) Knowles, Alexis Russo, Sam (Chloe Geschwender) Enyeart, Cole Enyeart, Emily Caldanaro, Ben Caldanaro; two great grandchildren, Ellie and Josie Russo; son-in-law, Ryan Luczkowski; sister, Sharon Marchesseau; sister-in-law, Janet (Walt Trzaskowski) Gardner; nephews, Greg (Cheryl Wetters) Gardner and Darcy (Jen) Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Betty Plumb and Shirley Shepherd. Phillip and LaDonna also lost a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Luczkowski in 2017.
Phillip and LaDonna lived most of their married life in Mishawaka, IN except for two years near Lima, Ohio. Phil worked for many years in retail sales. He was 100% a salesman at heart. He worked for A &P, National Foods, Kroger for 18 years, Frito-Lay for 15 years and had the local distributorship for Mike-Sells Chips for 10 years.
Phillip had many pastimes. He loved to bowl, go fishing and play golf. He belonged to Club 15 for the golf. He also enjoyed reading and puzzles. Phil and LaDonna loved to travel and camp. They especially loved to camp during the summer vacations. They were able to travel to all of the states except Oregon and Washington, including Alaska and Hawaii. But most of all, Phillip enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A private inurnment will take place at Fair Cemetery, Lakeville, IN.
