Marjorie “Margie” M. (Monahan) Carlton

Marjorie “Margie” M. Carlton, 80, of South Bend, Ind., after a battle with cancer, passed away at 5:10 p.m.Saturday, June 12, in Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson, Ind., with her son and dog, Tike, at her side. Margie was born on Jan. 31, 1924, in Joliet, Ill., to George and Mary Monahan. Shortly afterward, the family moved to South Bend, where she has been a lifelong resident. Margie attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Riley High School. She worked at Sears for nine years as a salesgirl in the jewelry department.
She married Harold L. Carlton on Aug.26, 1950, in South Bend. Harold preceded her in death on May 10, 1999.They lived together at 803 Garden Lane for almost 50 years.
Left with their loving memories are two sons, Patrick of Vancouver, Wash., and Eric of Bremen, Ind. Also surviving her are two sisters, Georgina Klingerman and Leatrice Kronewitter, both of South Bend.
Mom will be cherished for her deep devotion to her family, her wonderful smile, her unwavering determination and her quiet faith. Her love, friendship and support will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m.Saturday, June 19, in St. Patrick Parish in South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Marshall or St.Joseph Counties. Arrangements are being handled by the McGann Funeral Home.
