Marlene "Marty" (Zsedely) Lentych

December 23, 1940 ~ December 29, 2024

Marlene Ann (Zsedely) Lentych, known as “Marty” to all who knew her, passed away on the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 84.

Marty was born on December 23, 1940, in South Bend, to the late Elmer V. and Anna (Kertai) Zsedely.   She grew up in South Bend and is where she met the love of her love Thomas J. Lentych.  They were united in marriage on June 13, 1959 in Our Lady of Hungary Church.  Thomas preceded her in death on November 25, 2024.  They spent 65 amazing years together raising their family. 

Left to cherish her memory are their two beautiful daughters, Linnie Caye (Kevin Wooding) and Lancie Marvin both of South Bend, along with their adored grandchildren, Salem Al-Salem, Shayne Marvin, and Dayna Letcher (Joe Letcher) and their precious great-grandchildren, Tay Roc Norton, Owen Letcher, and Freya Letcher.

Marty was retired as matron at the South Bend jail, a position she held for over 20 years with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s department.

The family is following Marty’s wishes to be cremated with no services.  She will be laid to rest in Cedar Grove Cemetery, along with Thomas, at a later date.
