In 1959 Al returned to education by teaching Spanish at South Bend Central High School. In 1964 Al received his Master's in Education from the University of Notre Dame. When Central High School closed, Al continued his teaching career at Clay High School. He also taught business courses in night school as well as being asked to manage the Language Laboratory at IUSB. Al also taught Spanish at IUSB and at St. Mary's College
