Sharon Ann Nimtz (Herban)

Sharon Ann Nimtz (Herban)

January 7, 1961 ~ July 23, 2025

Sharon Ann Nimtz (Herban), a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at her home in Osceola, Indiana, with her loving family close by. Born in South Bend, Indiana, on January 7, 1961, Sharon’s life was shaped by her devotion to family and the joy she found in the simplest of pleasures.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 46 years, Randy Herban, who was her true companion in every sense of the word. High school sweethearts, their love story was one of deep affection and mutual respect—a bond that was clearly evident to all who knew them. They were truly inseparable, a pair that not only cherished each other in every moment but also grew together through every challenge and triumph.

Her legacy continues through her children, Crystal (Carlos) Bennett and Randy (Rose) Herban II. Sharon leaves behind 5 grandchildren who she loved dearly: Elizabeth, Zachary, and Molly Herban, and Courtney and Carlos Jr., Bennett.

Sharon is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Gary (Kathy) Nimtz and Rick Nimtz, who shared the adventures and stories that only siblings can tell. Her extended family, including brothers-in-law Guy Vidmar, and Tim (Lynn) Herban, sisters-in-law, Sandy Osborn, and Dana (Tony) Bacon, and nieces and nephews will miss her warm presence at family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Margaret (Tetzlaff) Nimtz, and her brother, Den Nimtz, sisters, Gail Walsh and Barb Vidmar, as well as her sister-in-law Jan Nimtz.

Sharon took great pride in being a stay-at-home mother, dedicating herself fully to her children until they reached high school. At that time, she began working at D&W Inc. in Elkhart, where she remained a loyal and hardworking employee for over 20 years. Following her husband's stroke in 2020, Sharon selflessly left her career to become his devoted caregiver, pouring her heart into meeting his every need and cherishing the time they shared. Even while caring for Randy, she never let go of the importance of family traditions; holidays remained a top priority in her life.

One of Sharon’s sources of great pride was creating a beautiful home and backyard oasis. Her home was a peaceful sanctuary filled with warmth and intention. The interior was lovingly decorated with carefully chosen artwork, including pieces she created herself. Outside, she spent countless hours transforming the backyard into a serene paradise where she loved hosting pool parties and family gatherings. Every detail, both inside and out, reflected Sharon’s thoughtful touch and creative spirit.

While Sharon will be missed by many, her husband will miss her more than words can fully express. They sweetly shared memories of trips to Florida, music concerts, playing cards and the occasional rum runner. When Sharon took on her caregiver role, the love for her husband only grew stronger as they shared many more sweet days together.

Sharon Ann Herban was a testimony to love. Though small in stature, she carried an extraordinary strength that left an undeniable mark on everyone who knew her. Her willpower, drive, and determination were guided by love and they often made her accomplishments seem almost unbelievable. Looking back, it’s clear her life was filled with purpose and meaning.

She leaves behind a space in our hearts that feels vast and immeasurable. While we grieve her absence, we also find peace knowing she is now in heaven and free from pain. As we say farewell to this remarkable woman, we hold onto the profound impact she made on each of our lives. Her memory will remain close, a quiet reminder of the strength of family, the power of love, and the beauty of a life well lived.

A Memorial visitation will be held at Palmer Funeral Home ~ Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, In 46545, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 1:00pm ~ 3:00 pm.  Memorial service to follow at 3:00pm.

Sharon was such a sweet and kind person. Her and Randy were some of my best friends and went to many parties together during my mid-teens. In reading her life story I see she maintained her sweetness throughout her life. As life went on we lost touch but they always had a place in my heart. I wish Randy all the best and am sad to see we lost such a wonderful person. Andy
