Lisa Renee (Denney) Nowak

Lisa Renee Nowak, 56, of Granger, IN., took back her smile at 8:29 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025, after a long, fearless fight with cancer. Lisa was born on December 3, 1968, in South Bend, IN. She graduated from Riley High School, ultimately receiving a BSN in nursing from Bethel College in 1995. Lisa found her niche in the Operating Room, specifically as a Charge Nurse. Her no non-sense, spit-fire personality made that role a perfect fit for her. She was at her best, when things were at their worst. Lisa retired from Allied Physician’s Surgery Center in 2022, choosing to focus her time on what she loved most, her family.
On September 8, 2018, Lisa married Nick Nowak. The two were meant for each other and their love could be felt whenever you were around them. Nick survives along with their daughter, Olivia Minnick, her mother, Jean (Steve) Gerndt, father, James Denney, brother, Ryan Denney, mother-in-law, Marilee Nowak, father-in-law, Dave Nowak, sister-in-law Heather Nowak, brother-in-law Nathaniel Nowak, nephew Silas Nowak, niece Ryder Nowak, and puppies Gunner and Luca.
Lisa will be remembered most for her unyielding strength, her one-of-a-kind sense of humor, her smile, and her ability to bring light, to some of the most difficult situations. She will be missed tremendously.
A celebration of life will be held at the Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel 3910, North Main Street, Mishawaka on September 20, 2025, 10am-Noon.
