Leonard “Sonny” Bush Jr

March 17, 1947 – March 10, 2004

Leonard “Sonny” Bush Jr., 56, loving father, son, grandfather and brother of Birchwood Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:26 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 10, as a result of an automobile accident that occurred on mile marker 56 and I-40 in New Mexico.

Leonard was born to the union of Leonard and Maggie (Jackson) Bush Sr. on March 17, 1947, in South Bend. He graduated from South Bend Riley High School. He was employed as a truck driver for Holland Trucking Company for over 30 years.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his two sons, Daryl (Avis) Bush of Simpsonville, S.C., and Leonard Bush III of Nashville, Tenn.; his parents, Leonard and Maggie Bush Sr.of South Bend; two grandchildren, Alyssa Bush and Jessica Bush of Simpsonville; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Carter of Michigan City, Ind., Cheryl Mays of Mesa, Ariz., and Patricia (Ronald) Bishop of South Bend; three brothers, Ernest (Annette) Bush of Akron, Ohio, Kenneth Bush of West Lake, Calif., and Pastor Travis (Michelle) Bush of Anaheim, Calif.; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Two brothers, Pastor Henry Bush and Dennis Ray Bush, both preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, March 13, in Alford’s Mortuary with visitation occurring one-hour prior to services in the chapel. Burial will take place on Monday, March 15, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary
