Elizabeth L. Murphy

March 20, 1906 - April 26, 2002

Elizabeth L. Murphy, 96, of West LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died Friday afternoon, April 26, in her residence.

Elizabeth was a Riley High School teacher for many years, retiring in 1972.

She was born on March 20, 1906, in Lafayette, Ind., to John and Josephine (Lesley) Murphy, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Josephine F. Murphy, M.D.; and by a brother, John Murphy, who was killed during World War II.

She is survived by a sister, Marguerite Murphy of South Bend.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and Purdue University, and attended the University of. Michigan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from one hour prior to services (9 a.m.) in the church.

Memorials may be made to Forever Learning or to the church.

The HICKEY Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson is in charge of arrangements.
