Robert “Bob” Alan Quinn

Robert “Bob” Alan Quinn, 72, of South Bend passed away on October 15th at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born in South Bend on November 23, 1953 to Robert J. and Della M. (Chambers) Quinn. Bob attended Riley High School as part of the class of 1972. He married the love of his life, Rita Faye Stockton, in South Bend, on November 27, 1971. Bob began his career as a diesel mechanic at Michiana Mack and quickly worked his way up to service manager for many years. He was well known as one of the best mechanics in the area. He later finished his service manager career at Whiteford Trailer. He knew how to work hard and play harder. He often enjoyed trying his luck with the slot machines at the local casinos and playing the lottery. Above all, Bob’s greatest joy came from being with his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, and extremely proud grandfather. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Big Papa” a name that held a special place in his heart. He treasured watching his children and grandchildren grow up and being such a big part of their lives.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Rita Quinn and their children, Chrissy (Jason) Robbins and Scott Quinn both of South Bend. He was the extremely proud grandfather of Lexie and Kylie Robbins & Konner and Karson Quinn all of South Bend. Bob is also survived by his siblings, Linda (Rick) Myers of Wilmington, DE and Gary (Helen) Quinn of Granger, along with daughter, Melissa Bobinac of Fortville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert J. and Della M. Quinn and his infant sister Christina.

As per Bob’s wishes cremation is to take place. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date in November. A revised obituary will be updated upon the scheduling confirmation. Hanley and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and wishes to extend deepest condolences to all of Bob’s family and friends.
