John Paul Basker

November 13, 1951 ~ March 13, 2016 (age 64)

John P. "Johnny Bee" Basker, 64, of Mishawaka, IN passed away at 8:29 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Hospice House.  He was born on November 13, 1951 in South Bend, IN to Eugene A. and Hazel F. (Condley) Basker.  On January 2, 1999 in South Bend, IN, he was united in marriage to Meg  Basker.

Mr. Basker is survived by his wife, Meg Basker; daughter, Delaney Basker of Mishawaka, IN; three sons, Jason (Sarah) Basker of Marcel, MN, Robert Basker of Niles, MI and Bowen Basker of Mishawaka, IN; mother, Hazel F. Basker of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Jenica, Kailex, Jacinta and Liam; three sisters, Mary (Robert) Wilson of South Bend, IN, Annie (Tom) Ferrettie of Edwardsburg, MI and Kim Basker of South Bend, IN; five brothers, Eugene M. (Peggy) Basker, Timothy A. (Kimberly) Basker, Tom Basker, Chris (Elaine) Basker and Daniel (Jane) Basker, all of South Bend, IN and a host of nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene A. Basker and three brothers, George F. Basker, Joseph W. Basker and James R. Basker.

John was a lifelong area resident.  He graduated from Riley High School and served his country honorably in the United States Army.  He retired from the South Bend Schools, and Marian High School where he worked in maintenance.  Bee loved everything about sports. He played softball for over thirty-five years and was on the “Basker Bears” flag football team.  He enjoyed playing disc golf with his friends and family, and was a Fantasy Football guru. John loved the NY Yankees, Chicago Bears, and watching his children play sports. He was a member of the Queen of Peace Church.

A special thanks to everyone on the Oncology 10th floor of Memorial Hospital for their incredible care.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Queen of Peace, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN and one hour prior to the services Saturday at church.
