Zelda M. (Annis) Keltner

June 16, 1915 — Jan. 24, 2001

Zelda May Keltner, 85, residing on Renfrew Drive, South Bend, passed away peacefully at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2001, in Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT, where she was admitted a few hours earlier. Mrs. Keltner was born June 16, 1915, in South Bend, as the daughter of Clarence L. & Carrie Hazel (Morris) Annis, and has been a lifelong resident of South Bend.

On June 16, 1936, in South Bend, on her 21st birthday, she married Charles F. Keltner. They shared 62 years together until he passed away November 2, 1998. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Marilyn & Dean Roose of Indianapolis, Margaret & David Blakeley of New Fairfield, CT; five grandchildren, Robin Lynn King, Victoria Jean Roose and Dean Ralph Roose II, all of Indianapolis, Giner Suzanne Miller of Long Island, New York, and Robert H. Miller II of New Fairfield, CT; three great-grand-children; and a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia & Earl Wiseman of Grand Blanc, MI.

Mrs. Keltner was a 1933 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, worked at Wilson Brothers in South Bend in the 1930s, was a member of Riley Lunch Bunch for over 15 years, was a member of the Euchre Card Club for over 50 years, and an active member of Faith United Methodist Church (once Stull United Methodist) in South Bend.

Services for Zelda M. Keltner will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 29, in Faith United Methodist Church, 802 E. Ewing Ave., Rev. Robert Ingle, pastor, and Rev. Bonnie Shoaf, former pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 28, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services on Monday in the church. Memorial contributions in memory of Zelda Keltner may be offered to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or Faith United Methodist Church, 802 East Ewing Ave., South Bend, IN 46613.
