Katherine E. (Altic) Raissle

Katherine Emma (Altic) Raissle Mar. 19, 1921 - Apr. 11, 2015 STOCKBRIDGE, GA - Katherine "Kaye" Emma Raissle, 94, of Stockbridge, Georgia, and formerly of South Bend, passed away peacefully at the Laurel Park Nursing Home on April 11, 2015. She was born March 19, 1921, in Frankfort, Indiana, to the late Carrie (Hart) and Clarence B. Altic, Sr.

On October 15, 1949, in South Bend Zion's United Church of Christ, she married Robert C. Raissle, who preceded her in death on July 24, 2013. Kaye and Bob celebrated 64 years of marriage. Kaye will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by a son, Robert A. (Cathy) Raissle of McDonough, Georgia, and brothers, Clarence B. Altic, Jr. (Phyllis) of South Bend and James E. Altic of Sun City, Arizona, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Altic of South Bend. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jeffrey, David (Wendy) and Carrie Ann Raissle, along with two great-grandsons, whom we loved and adored.

Kaye was preceded in death by one brother, Claris E. Altic.

Kaye attended Monroe and James Whitcomb Riley High School. After graduation, she entered St. Joseph Hospital Mishawaka School of Nursing, where Kaye received her degree as a registered nurse. Upon completion of her nursing degree in 1943, Kaye entered the U.S. Army Nurse Corp with the rank of 2nd Lt. She served at the Oliver General Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, until the end of WW II. Returning to South Bend after the war, Kaye worked for Dr. L.G. Frith for 22 years, retiring in 1971.

Kaye was a member of the South Bend Pilot Club and served as president in 1966. She was also an active member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. Kaye was an avid player of both tennis and golf. A memorial service will be held at the Laurel Park Nursing Home in Stockbridge, Georgia.
