Lamoine Nelson “Lee” Arnett

Funeral for Lee N. Arnett, 81, of Franklin Street will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Services, Hathaway-Myerse Chapel on Pearl Street, with the Rev. Allan K. Wilson officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Shriners Crippled Children Fund.

Mr. Arnett died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994, at his Florida home.

From 1937 to 1959 he was claims supervisor for State Automobile Insurance Association. In 1959 he purchased the William Hertel Insurance Agency and operated it as the Arnett Insurance Agency until 1977. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

A graduate of Riley High School in South Bend, he was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Golden K Kiwanis Club, 30th Infantry Division Association, St. John's Masonic Loge, Columbus High 12 Club of which he was president in 1966, York Rite Bodies, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Masonic Square Club in Bradenton, Fla., Columbus Order of the Eastern Star, Murat Shrine, Bartholomew County Shrine, Independent Order of the Odd Fellows Lodge and Columbus Senior Center. He also was an associate member of First United Methodist Church at Bradenton.

Born Dec. 30, 1912, in Wabash, he was the son of Harry P. and Eva Mae Allison Arnett. He married Hazel Lavern Conolty Oct. 27, 1940. She died April 13, 1992.

Survivors include a son, Paul L. Arnett of Columbus; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Arnett of Columbus.
